VASCO: Following the recent attack on police personnel by a group of seven youth, Vasco police have stepped up security and intensified night patrolling across the city.
Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam on Thursday night informed reporters that patrolling has been strengthened, particularly in sensitive areas, and warned that those indulging in unnecessary late-night gatherings could face action.
“We have decided to tighten policing and will not tolerate anti-social activities anywhere. People roaming in groups at night unnecessarily may face police action. Some people sit in groups without reason, and this invites trouble. We will not allow this,” said Kadam.
He further added that the police are prepared for the upcoming Ganesh Chaturthi festival. “We have chalked out our security programme for the festival. I want to assure people that there is no need to worry as our arrangements are in place. It is our responsibility to ensure their safety.”
The DySP also cautioned business owners and residents to adhere to regulations. “Shops and establishments should not remain open beyond permissible time, and people sitting out in groups to gossip will not be tolerated. Our patrolling will be more concentrated in sensitive areas, and we want to instill confidence in the minds of the people that they are safe.”
