VASCO: Vasco Urban Health Centre officers say only two suspected Dengue cases in June were detected. Anti-larval measures and fogging are being carried out in vulnerable areas prone to mosquito breeding.
It is good news for Vasco people that this year, only two Dengue cases have been detected in the Vasco area. In the last few years, Mormugao taluka has been in the news for the outbreak and rise in the number of Dengue cases. But this year, in June, only two suspected Dengue cases were identified by the Vasco Urban Health Centre.
The Health officer of Vasco Urban Health Centre, Dr Paresh Lawande, said they have identified only two suspected Dengue cases.
“One case was identified last week, and another suspected Dengue case was detected yesterday,” he said.
He further said that our staff has taken anti-larval measures to stop the mosquito breeding at the construction sites.
“I know there were some prone areas which were breeding grounds for the mosquitoes; we are keeping an eye on these areas. Surprisingly this year, the dengue cases in rural areas have surfaced as compared to urban areas such as Vasco,” he said.
When asked for more details, Dr Lawande said that it is necessary to keep our surroundings clean.
“The contractor of any construction site should ensure that anti-larval measures are taken, and there should be no mosquito breeding happening at their site,” he said.
