CANACONA: Picnic of a Vasco family and friends turned tragic as a 17 year old boy drowns while all were enjoying in sea waters at Kakolam beach of Khola Canacona.
According to Canacona police Sagar Lamani, 17 resident of Mangor Hills, Near Durgadevi Temple Vasco along with the family and friends drowned in the sea at Kakolam beach waters of Khola village.
Lamani was brought to CHC Canacona in a 108 Ambulance stating he had drowned in sea waters at Kakolam beach of Khola village was declared dead by the doctor on duty.
According to Canacona police, their enquiry with the elder sister of the deceased revealed that a group of friends and family had come to Kakolam beach for a picnic from Vasco and along with her brother all were enjoying the seawatersm when suddenly her brother got drowned.
Incidentally, some foreign tourists who were also enjoying sunbathing and the seawater, responding to the alarm, rescued and brought her brother to the shore. Thereafter after distress calls were made an 108 ambulance rushed the lifeless body of the deceased to the CHC, Canacona where doctor on duty declared brought dead.
Police conducted inquest panchnama over the body of the deceased and the body was referred to Post Mortem examination at SGDH, Margao, where Police Surgeon conducted autopsy over the dead body and certified the cause of death as “Asphyxia as a result of drowning”. The body is handed over to the family for final rights.
An UD is registered U/s 194 BNSS 2023 and further enquiry is carried out by PSI Rajashekar Reddy of Canacona Police Station.
