VASCO:Goa CM Dr Pramod Sawant on Sunday said that Vasco’s Damodar Saptah festival was likely to get state festival status by next year .
Sawant was speaking to reporters after visiting the Damodar temple in Vasco on the occasion of the 125th year of Damodar Bhajani Saptah festival .
” I had arrived at the Damodar temple ro offer my prayers and seek the blessings of Lord Damodar . I extend my wishes to all the people and devotees on the occasion of 125th year of Damodar Saptah. Vasco’s Damodar Saptah attracts devotees from across the State who arrive to Vasco’s Damodar temple. Both the MLAs Sankalp Amonkar and Krishna Salkar have demanded that Damodar Saptah be given the status of the State Festival and both these MLAs must follow up with the Arts and Culture department to give the festival the status of State festival by the next year , so that we can celebrate this festival in a better way and on a grand scale bringing in the people from across the state to participate in the Saptah festival. As a part of my visit, we have distributed bio degradable bags in the Saptah fair and also launched the Har Ghar Tiranga Bike rally at Mormugao constituency ” Said Sawant
Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar, Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar, Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) Chairperson Girish Borker, Vasco BJP Mandal president Deepak Naik and others were also present in the temple during the visit of CM Dr Pramod Sawant.
Sawant after offering prayers and seeking the blessings of Lord Damodar also distributed bio degradable bags, arranged by Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar to the vendors of the Saptah fair.
