PANAJI: Vedanta Sesa Goa has refuted claims of the employees who protested at Patto, Panaji on Monday saying the company diligently adhered to the foregoing requirement & remains committed to a transparent and expedited resolution of requests for PF withdrawal.
“We, at Vedanta Sesa Goa, diligently adhere to the statutory requirements, laws, policies and regulations that govern the mining industry and in line with our commitment towards transparency and statutory compliance,” said a release sent by the company here.
It asdded that Vedanta is actively engaged in expediting the processing of Provident Fund (PF) withdrawals for ex-workmen of Sesa Mining Corporation Limited (SMCL). “Having received individual PF withdrawal applications from the ex-workmen on November 1, 2023, Vedanta is diligently processing these requests with the settlement of PF dues in accordance with legal provisions in the specified time frame,” it stated.
Additionally, the company says the issue of retrenchment does not lend itself to that of clearing of PF dues without explicit application for withdrawal from the Workmen, since an employee can continue to retain the PF account well beyond the period of employment and the Company is duty bound to maintain and manage their investments and match the rate of interest declared by the GoI.
“Vedanta Sesa Goa has diligently adhered to the foregoing requirement & remains committed to a transparent and expedited resolution of requests for PF withdrawal,” company says.
