The Aam Aadmi Party Velim candidate Cruz Silva stated that the Congress party betrayed Velim residents in 2017. However, Velim residents will not repeat their mistake and are fully behind AAP in this election.
Silva said, “In 2017, a strong anti-incumbency prevailed in Velim. Therefore, the people voted for the Congress. However, the Congress betrayed the trust and joined the BJP, allowing it to form the government”.
“Despite winning 17 seats in 2017, the Congress couldn’t form a government. This time around things are the same.
Defections are in the DNA of the Congress party. This phenomenon of party legislators deserting the Congress is observed in multiple states. Goans are now aware that voting for Congress means supporting the BJP. Therefore, this time they will not back Congress”, he added.
He further said, “Since BJP has realised it cannot form a government that’s why it has put seven candidates on the ballot under the Congress banner, and it is financing them. The situation is the same this time around, with talk of Congress defections in every part of the state. The BJP has planned a new strategy. Once the Congress candidates have won their seats, they are going to join the BJP”.
