PANAJI: In a thrilling quarterfinal match of the 18th Rebello Pandal All-Goa Open Football Tournament, Carmel Boys Curtorim edged out Ambaulim Quepem Boys with a 1-0 victory, securing their spot in the semifinals. The match was held at the St. Rita Church Ground in Maina-Curtorim on Thursday.
Both teams showcased attacking football, creating several scoring opportunities. However, it was Velroy Fernandes of Carmel Boys who broke the deadlock in the 24th minute with a powerful shot that found the back of the net. This solitary goal proved to be the match-winner, as neither team managed to score thereafter.
Rosario Fernandes, a football enthusiast, presented the ‘Man of the Match’ award to Velroy Fernandes in recognition of his decisive contribution to the team’s victory.
The tournament, organized by Rebello Pandal Maina, continues to attract local talent and football fans, highlighting the vibrant sporting culture of Goa.
