VASCO: RVNL contractors were sent back by the Velsao locals asking them to obtain necessary permissions from the competent govt authorities such as GCZMA, Panchayat, Deputy Collector and others before considering to go for a survey of the land.
Locals and Panchayat members from Velsao panchayat remained firm on their stand opposing double-tracking and land survey regarding it.
RVNL contractors informed that as asked by the locals, they will get permission from the govt authorities and come back.
Last week too, Goencho Ekvott (GE) members along with the villagers of Mollo-Velsao on Monday stopped Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), the private contractor hired by South Western Railway (SWR) from carrying out the “illegal” survey in the village.
Goencho Ekvott Joint Secretary Olencio Simoes slammed the government for supporting the “illegal” work of the SWR and for trespassing into the private owners property without completing the due acquisition process.
He said that the government is speeding up the work of the three linear projects by South Western Railway in the State — double tracking from Vasco to Hospet, expansion of National Highway 4A and High Tension Power Transmission Line through wildlife sanctuary of the Western Ghats by violating all the laws only to satisfy the government’s crony capitalist friends.
In a press release, Goencho Ekvott stated Panch Ashok Souza complained that the SWR is acting like a State within the State, as it has trespassed into his private property without informing him or Velsao Pale Issorcim Panchayat. Such attitude without fear of law is unacceptable and against the Constitution.
Further, founder of Goencho Ekvott Orville Dourado Rodrigues said, “The Mormugao Mamlatdar was forced to rush to the site to pacify the villagers and assured to convene a joint meeting with the railway authorities.”
