Panaji: MLA Venzy Viegas has lauded the government’s decision to move towards regularising contractual teachers, calling it a “good beginning” in recognising their service to education. The issue was raised by Viegas during the Zero Hour on August 1, where he had demanded that regularisation take place within the current financial year and that teachers be retained in the same schools.
While welcoming the step, Viegas stressed that his fight is far from over. “These educators have dedicated over a decade to shaping young minds despite low pay. Their contribution is invaluable. Granting them the prestigious ‘TR’ status is not just necessary but a mark of respect for their service,” he said.
The Benaulim MLA reiterated his commitment to push for full recognition and rights for the teachers, declaring, “I will continue to put pressure on the government. I will not stop until they receive the recognition and rights they truly deserve.”
