VERNA: Verna police have arrested a 19 year old boy Mallappa Odi, a native of Bijapur and a resident of Satara for raping a 16 year old minor girl from Zuarinagar
Verna police sources said that they received a complaint from a Zuarinagar local on 22nd May that his 16 year old niece had gone missing for the last three days since 19th of May
” The man suspected the involvement of the accused in the kidnapping of his minor neice. The Verna police immediately formed a team led by PSI Carey Fernandes who located the accused boy and victim girl at Satara with the help of Umraj police station. The team of Verna police left for Satara on 24th May and returned successfully with the accused boy and victim girl to the Verna Police station on Sunday. The statement of the girl was recorded at the Verna police station in the presence of the NGO where she confirmed that the accused boy had sexual intercourse with her . ” Said the source
Verna police sent the victim girl for medical examination and arrested the accused 19 year old boy Mallappa Odi under sections 137 (2 ) of BNS ,and section 8 of Goa children act, Section 64 of BNSS and sections 4 ,8 of POCSO Act.
The accused was produced to the JMFC court on Monday and has been granted 4 days of police custody.
Verna police is carrying out further investigation under the supervision of PI Anand Shirodkar and guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam
