VERNA: Verna police have initiated an investigation after sewage waste was allegedly released into a roadside drain along the highway near Old Mardol Restaurant late on Thursday night, posing a potential health hazard.
The incident came to light following a complaint by John Philip Pereira, a resident of Nagoa-Salcete, who reported that around 11.40 pm on October 16, unidentified persons had negligently discharged sewage into the drain, creating unhygienic conditions and raising concerns over the possible spread of infections.
Police have registered an offence under Section 271 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. The investigation is being conducted by PSI Carey Fernandes under the supervision of PI Anand Shirodkar and guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
