PANAJI: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has announced plans to launch a nationwide awareness campaign aimed at freeing Hindu temples from government control and promoting greater autonomy for Hindu religious institutions. The decision was made during a recent meeting at the Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj. The campaign seeks to empower Hindu religious bodies by advocating for their independence in managing affairs without government interference.
In addition to this, VHP also revealed plans for the Hitachintak Abhiyan in November 2025, with the goal of enrolling over 1 crore Hindus into the organization. The VHP aims to expand its reach and impact through a range of service projects focused on education, health, and employment for the deprived sections of society. The projects will be launched in the coming 1-2 years to address pressing issues within these communities.
The VHP also highlighted its ongoing contribution to social welfare, noting that it is already running more than 5,500 service projects across the country, benefitting tens of lakhs of people. These initiatives focus on empowering Hindu communities and addressing the needs of the most marginalized sections of society.
Meanwhile, the VHP has expressed alarm over the increasing violence against Hindus in the country, particularly in West Bengal, in response to the Waqf Amendment Bill. In light of the situation, the VHP has announced plans to conduct demonstrations in all districts of India on April 19, 2025, demanding President’s Rule in West Bengal to address the violence and ensure the safety of Hindu communities.
Further, the VHP has raised concerns about the demographic imbalance in India, particularly in Goa, where a significant change in the Muslim population has been noted. The Governor of Goa recently highlighted the drop in the Christian population and a rise in the Muslim population, a trend the VHP believes could have significant implications for political outcomes in the state. The VHP has raised alarms over the influx of Muslims from other states into Goa and what they perceive as a systematic settlement in various constituencies, suggesting that these developments could be part of a “nefarious design” that needs urgent attention from the authorities.
The VHP has called on the government to take immediate action to address these demographic changes and ensure that political integrity is maintained in the state, urging authorities to pay attention to these developments as they may affect election outcomes in the future.
