Panaji: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, along with Atanasio Monserrate, Minister for Labour, Revenue and Waste Management, unveiled the logo of ‘Vigyan Manthan’, an innovative education initiative aimed at nurturing scientific temper and curiosity among students, families and the wider community. The logo was unveiled in the presence of Headmaster Vishal Gajanan Signapurkar and his team.
Vigyan Manthan is a comprehensive science outreach programme that blends hands-on scientific exploration with the Indian Knowledge System (IKS). The initiative connects schools, families and communities through a structured model implemented at multiple levels. It is built on three interlinked pillars — Vigyan Setu, Vigyan Khidki, and Vigyan Mahotsav.
The programme has been jointly conceptualized, designed and executed by Vishal Gajanan Signapurkar along with the staff of Government High School, Merces, and Government High School, Kilarwada–Chimbel, Tiswadi. Rooted in inquiry, experimentation and Indian Knowledge Systems, the initiative aims to make science engaging beyond the classroom.
The first pillar, Vigyan Setu – Connecting Little Minds, is being implemented across all Government Primary Schools and ApnaGhar institutions in Tiswadi taluka. The second pillar, Vigyan Khidki – Engaging Family Moments, extends science learning into homes through parent-led and student-led activities, encouraging simple experiments and scientific discussions within families.
The programme culminates with Vigyan Mahotsav – Celebrating Community Milestones, an annual community science festival showcasing student-led projects under Vigyan Prerna, perception-challenging demonstrations through Vigyan Chunauti, and exhibits based on Indian Knowledge Systems.
