MARGAO: South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha today said that he was confidence of winning the South Goa Lok Sabha seat if he was nominated by Congress again.
“I am confident of a win in South Goa Lok Sabha polls if Congress nominated me as South Goa,” said Sardinha.
Sardinha also indicated that Sardesai didn’t work for him in the last Lok Sabha polls as well, and therefore his statement didn’t hold any relevance.
“Ask him (Sardesai) if he supported me during the previous Lok Sabha polls,” Sardinha said.
“I have no doubt, people from Fatorda will support me this time too,” Sardinha said.
Sardesai had earlier said his relationship with Sardinha wasn’t good, and that therefore he would be averse to supporting Congress this time if Sardinha was its candidate.
“If the party gives the ticket, and if the people want me to contest the 2024 elections, I will contest and it will be the last election. I will not contest any further after this but I will stay with the party even if not given a ticket,” he said.
He said that Thakare will inform the centre about the local sentiments.
Sardinha said that he is aspiring for the ticket. “I have already done by campaigning through my work during last five years,” he said.
