PANAJI: Goa Forward Party chief Vijai Sardesai on Wednesday urged the government to reconvene the Legislative Assembly following the High Court’s decision to cancel the Ponda by-election.
Sardesai pointed out that the Assembly session had been adjourned in special circumstances after the Model Code of Conduct came into force, and said the changed situation warranted reconvening the House.
He stated that the Assembly should be called back and the questions tabled by members earlier should be revived. According to him, since the session was adjourned due to the election code, the government now has the opportunity to resume proceedings in view of the cancellation of the by-poll.
Sardesai added that with the budget already passed, the government could proceed with discussions and take up pending questions raised by legislators.
