Panaji: Villagers from Palem-Siridao, along with Viresh Borkar, met Chief Town Planner Ms. Vertika Dagur at the Town and Country Planning (TCP) office in Panaji, demanding that all survey numbers included under Section 39A of the TCP Act be rolled back immediately.
The delegation strongly opposed the proposed land use changes under Section 39A, stating that the move would adversely impact the village and its residents.
They called for the rollback of the proposed zone conversions in Palem-Siridao and urged the TCP department to respect the sentiments of the local community.
Speaking to the media, MLA Viresh Borkar said villagers have repeatedly staged protests outside the TCP office to safeguard their rights.
He alleged that the land conversion amounted to injustice against the Bahujan Samaj and warned that the agitation would intensify if the government failed to revoke the changes.
Earlier in the day, villagers and activists staged a protest outside the TCP office in Panaji, raising slogans and voicing strong opposition to the implementation of Section 39A in their village.
The protesters reiterated their demand for a change of zone and immediate withdrawal of the proposed land conversion.
