PANAJI: Forest Minister Vishwajit Rane today ruled out the possibility of declaring Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary as a tiger habitat.
“There are no native tigers to Goa; the tigers come as transit from Karnataka. The tiger sighting which take place in Goa are from Karnataka,” said Rane
He further said that tiger reserve will never come up in Goa as long as he is a minister.
“There is no need of tiger reserve in the state. Tiger is not resident of Goa. Tiger comes to Goa from outside through corridor and goes back”, said Rane
Meanwhile, Rane said that the forest department has been working to attract more people to wildlife in the state by setting up various activities under hinterland tourism.
