BAMBOLIM: Goa Health Minister Vishwajit Rane paid a personal visit to the Paediatric Neuro Rehabilitation Centre (PNRC) at Goa Medical College (GMC) on Friday to oversee the centre’s functioning and interact with children and parents receiving care.
Describing the visit as a deeply moving experience, Rane said the children he met at the centre were “remarkable symbols of strength and resilience.”
He reiterated the government’s commitment to delivering high-quality, compassionate healthcare, particularly to Goa’s youngest and most vulnerable patients.
The PNRC at GMC provides free care to newborns and children*with neurological and developmental conditions. As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen these services, Rane announced several new initiatives to be implemented through his personal trust and CSR support.
One such initiative involves the provision of high-quality pediatric splints, delivered by a leading Mumbai-based specialist who visited the centre to take individual measurements. “Our goal is to ensure that no child is deprived of the best possible care and support,” Rane said.
Additionally, he announced that seven healthcare professionals would soon be onboarded through his trust to expand the centre’s capabilities. The team will include two speech therapists, two physiotherapists, and three occupational therapists, who will work alongside the existing staff to provide comprehensive, multidisciplinary rehabilitation and developmental care.
“These steps are part of our broader vision—Healthcare for All**—accessible, advanced, and delivered with compassion. We will continue to enhance facilities and services to ensure the best outcomes for every child under our care,” Rane affirmed.
The Paediatric Neuro Rehabilitation Centre has become a key pillar of Goa’s public health system, offering essential support to families and children with special medical needs, and Friday’s visit marked another step forward in reinforcing that commitment.
