New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi departed for a two day visit to Israel, describing the trip as an opportunity to chart new milestones in the India Israel Strategic Partnership. He said the visit would focus on strengthening cooperation across key sectors while reviewing regional and global developments of shared concern.
This marks his second visit to Israel, following his landmark 2017 trip that expanded collaboration in defence, agriculture and water management. Over the years, bilateral ties have evolved into a robust and multifaceted partnership marked by growing engagement in innovation and technology driven sectors.
During the visit, Modi will hold wide ranging talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Discussions are expected to cover science and technology, innovation, agriculture, water management, defence and security, trade and investment, as well as people to people exchanges. Both sides are set to outline fresh goals aimed at advancing a resilient and forward looking partnership.
The Prime Minister will also meet Israeli President Isaac Herzog to review bilateral cooperation. In a historic first, Modi is scheduled to address the Knesset, becoming the first Indian Prime Minister to do so. The address is expected to underline the democratic values and parliamentary traditions shared by the two nations.
Engagements during the trip include participation in an innovation event in Jerusalem and a visit to Yad Vashem. Cooperation in emerging areas such as high technology, artificial intelligence and quantum research is also on the agenda, reflecting the growing emphasis on cutting edge collaboration.
Modi expressed confidence that the visit would consolidate enduring bonds and further the shared vision of stability, innovation and prosperity. Israeli leaders have described the visit as historic, highlighting the close rapport between the two prime ministers and the expanding scope of bilateral cooperation.
