PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant urged local representatives, including panchayat members and municipal council members, to focus on comprehensive human development rather than just standard infrastructure projects like building sewers, saying that creative planning is necessary to meet the basic development needs of every family in villages while delivering high-quality projects.
CM Chaired a productive meeting with all elected representatives of local bodies from Sankhali constituency and engaged in discussions on driving development across the region by effectively utilizing available funds. Emphasized the importance of ensuring that Government schemes and programs reach every household, fostering growth and community well-being.
According to Sawant, in order to help Goa achieve its objective of self-sufficiency, the local officials had to plan job camps and carry out programs efficiently. He exhorted the local leaders to set an example for their communities. “Acting as ideal representatives and bringing our work to every household is the only way we can achieve real human development,” he stated.
Beyond infrastructure and programs, public officials need to relate to the people and comprehend the requirements of every home. Leaders can only win people’s support and genuinely bring prosperity to every home by winning their hearts, Sawant stated.
According to him, it is imperative that government programs be made available to every home because many families have been left without benefits due to improper execution.
Sawant stated that it is crucial to have clear plans for village development and carry out beneficial initiatives, pointing out that certain officials have a propensity to misappropriate cash on unforeseen projects that do not serve communities. Panchayats should prioritize real, long-term development over temporary solutions.
He claimed that because of inadequate planning and a lack of vision, many panchayats have idle finances, which delays the resolution of urgent problems. The Chief Minister requested that representatives concentrate on pollution prevention, waste management, and the growth of horticulture and agriculture. “All panchayat members need to be careful when handling waste,” he stated.
