New Delhi: Russian President Vladimir Putin will undertake a state visit to India on December 4-5, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed on Friday. The visit, at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will coincide with the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit in New Delhi.
During the two-day visit, President Putin is scheduled to hold talks with PM Modi. President Droupadi Murmu will receive him and host a banquet in his honour. The MEA stated that the summit will provide an opportunity for both nations to review progress in bilateral ties, strengthen the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership, and exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual interest.
This will be Putin’s first visit to India since 2021, following his meeting with PM Modi on September 1 this year at the SCO Summit in Tianjin, China.
The Kremlin has described the visit as a key moment for Russian-Indian relations, noting that it will allow discussions across a broad agenda, including political, trade, economic, scientific, technological, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation, as well as deliberation on international and regional developments. Russian state news agency TASS highlighted the significance of this engagement in furthering the countries’ particularly privileged strategic partnership.
