Margoa: The VMCL Scorpions extended their unbeaten streak in the MCC Ferdinand Coelho Memorial VMCL 3 T-20 Tournament with a commanding 91-run win over the VMCL Blasters under the lights at MCC Ground, Margao.
Asked to bat first, the Scorpions posted a solid total of 155/9 in their 20 overs. Jude Cardozo anchored the innings with a steady 29, while Iftikar Agha (32) and Sandeep Dalal (20) contributed vital middle-order runs. Despite a late burst from Balkrishna Hodarkar—who claimed an impressive 5-wicket haul, including two in the final over—the Scorpions managed a competitive score.
In reply, the Blasters faltered badly, collapsing to 64 all out in just 11.3 overs. Only Sudeep Narayan (17) and Sanjay Netravalkar (12) reached double figures. The Scorpions’ bowlers operated with precision, with Prakash Kunde and Dr. Satyesh Kamat taking two wickets apiece. Sudesh Rane and Rasik Pai Khot also chipped in with timely breakthroughs.
Jude Cardozo’s efforts behind the stumps—effecting two stumpings—along with his crucial runs, earned him the Man of the Match award, presented by Dr. Sudhir Shet. The dominant win not only handed the Scorpions another two points but also gave a significant boost to their net run rate, firmly establishing their position as title contenders.
