PANAJI: In a bid to promote mindful reading and digital detox, V. M. Salgaocar College of Law (VMSCL), through its flagship initiative BeyondTheSyllabus (BTS), is organizing a distinctive event titled Library Marathon: 3-Hour Screen-Free Reading Challenge on June 28, 2025. The event will be held from 9:15 AM to 12:15 PM at the VMSCL Library, Miramar.
Designed to rekindle participants’ relationship with physical books, the session will require readers to spend three uninterrupted hours without screens or electronic devices. Open to students and the general public, the event is limited to the first 30 registered participants. Those who complete the challenge will be awarded a Certificate of Completion, while two lucky readers will walk away with special prizes.
The event is being held under the leadership of Prof. Shaber Ali G., with faculty coordinators Ramrai Naik and Nalin Phaldesai, and student coordinators Sangeet Grower and Arnav Dessai. Student volunteers Aditi Thakur, Nidhi Naik, Krupa Naik, Sachi Sawant, Tanuja Dhond, Komal Das, and Dareen Khattal will assist in managing the session.
Launched in 2023 as part of VMSCL’s golden jubilee celebrations by faculty member Ramrai Naik, BTS has grown into a vibrant platform fostering curiosity and creativity through diverse engagements including podcasts, discussions, field trips, and more.
Registrations for the event are now open at [BeyondTheSyllabus.in](http://beyondthesyllabus.in). For queries, participants can reach out to: [events@vmslaw.edu.in](mailto:events@vmslaw.edu.in).
Through this initiative, VMSCL continues its commitment to holistic academic well-being and the intellectual growth of its students — one book at a time.
