Team Goemkarponn
PANAJI: Prabodhan Education Society’s Vidya Prabodhini College of Commerce, Education, Computer and Management, in collaboration with its Alumni Association and the Department of Physical Education, successfully hosted the VPCIANS Alumni Futsal League 1.0 at the Khelangan Futsal Arena, Porvorim. The event brought together over 50 enthusiastic alumni, divided into six teams along with one staff team, creating an energetic and nostalgic atmosphere filled with friendly competition and college spirit.
The league was inaugurated by Principal Dr. Ujvala Hanjunkar, who served as the Chief Guest, alongside Dr. Anil Thosare, Head of the Department of Education, as Guest of Honour. The participating teams included Thunder Strikers (owner Sushant Kudtalkar), Game is On (Vindesh Nagvekar), Daddy 5 Tigers (Shubham Bhonsle), Friends United (Mehboob Banasi), DareDevils (Sandip Navik), Alumni Warriors FC (Ashish Kerkar), and the Staff Team.
The league featured several gripping encounters. Thunder Strikers advanced to the finals after edging past the Staff Team with a decisive goal from Bhavesh Madkaikar, while Alumni Warriors FC triumphed over Game is On in a dramatic penalty shootout following a 1–1 draw. The grand finale proved to be an exciting contest, where Sahil Shetty scored the winning goal that secured Thunder Strikers the title of inaugural champions.
The Rolling Trophy was sponsored by Saiket Naik, while the Winner and Runner-up Trophies were sponsored by Assistant Professor and Alumni Ratisha Sapre. Individual prizes were supported by Assistant Professor Austin Dias. The Prize Distribution Ceremony was graced by Sanjay Walavalkar, Chairman of Prabodhan Education Society, as Chief Guest, and Akhilesh Dessai as Guest of Honour.
Dr. Sunny Kanekar, Convenor of the Alumni Association, welcomed the participants and lauded the alumni for their enthusiastic involvement. Vasant Narulkar, President of the Alumni Association, proposed the vote of thanks, appreciating the efforts of all teams, sponsors, and organizers. The event concluded with great cheer, celebrating unity, sportsmanship, and the enduring connection between the college and its alumni.
