PANAJI: Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) Mayor Rohit Monseratte has now hit out at the Imagine Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL) saying it should not blame others if there is delay in the completion of the work.
“All of the available documents can be checked by IPSCDL. They are doing all of the city’s road construction. They now have the duty to complete everything,” Mayor said.
He said the IPSCDL shouldn’t shift the blame to someone else if there is a delay.
“That’s not right. When things go right, they claim all the credit, and when things go wrong, they place the blame elsewhere,”said CCP Mayor Rohit Monseratte.
He further said that if something is illegal, it is illegal, in reference to the encroachments statement made by CEO Sanjit Rodrigues.
“The Corporation is powerless to act. If something is determined to be lawful, nobody may touch it; however, if it is determined to be unlawful, Smart City must act,” he added.
On Thursday, Sanjit Rodrigues, IAS, stated that encroachments on city road pavements are causing obstacles and slowing down the Smart City project.
“Pavements are universal, but we have to be fair to everyone,” Rodrigues stated while addressing reporters in the city. It must be suitable for all pedestrians. Our goal is to offer level pavement to everyone. We are currently leveling the pavement,” he added.
Meanwhile, Rodrigues has said that Panjim has no choice but to replace the existing sewerage pipelines. He has assured of completing the major current works of Municipal Square road, sewerage lines and other works by January 31. Rodrigues also said that 75 percent of the works taken up under Smart City Panjim have been completed and said that he will put efforts to keep up to the deadline of May 31 set by the Government.
While welcoming the demand of financial and quality audit of the works that have been taken up and completed Rodrigues said “I welcome the demand of audit. The quality of the works undertaken by IPSCDL speaks for it self. Mala hasn’t flooded, there is no water logging on the Fire station-Balbhavan road” he said.
