CANACONA: Unknown persons broke into the toilet of Government Primary School at Gullem and stole water taps worth around Rs 10,000, police said.
According to Canacona Police, complainant Natasha Guarda, c/o ADEI, Canacona and a resident of Chinchinim, Salcete, reported that the theft occurred between 1:35 pm on March 17 and 8:00 am on March 18. The accused allegedly forcefully entered the school toilet by breaking open the latch of the door.
Police said the culprits decamped with seven metal water taps, including four brass taps and three steel taps, which were fixed to the water pipeline. An offence has been registered and further investigation is being carried out by PSI Ramdas Doifode.
In a separate incident, Sagar Naik Gaonkar, a resident of Kindlem, Canacona, complained that unknown person(s) stole a water meter installed outside his shop at Rajbag, Canacona, prior to March 22. The theft caused an estimated loss of around Rs 6,000.
Canacona Police have registered a case and further investigation is being conducted by Head Constable Anand Pagi (HC-5909).
