The Directorate of Industries, Trade and Commerce celebrated World MSME (Micros Small and Medium Enterprises) Day at the Mantralaya, Secretariat, today. The theme for the event was ‘Building A Stronger Future Together’. The Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant launched the RAMP (Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance), a World Bank-assisted Central Sector Scheme, the Business Facilitation Centre (BFC) of North Goa and the Women Entrepreneurship Facilitation Centre (WEFC), North Goa.
While speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that these initiatives were steps to take MSME in Goa forward and if everyone works together, it would be possible to build a strong future for Goa in MSME. He commended the gathering of policymakers and policy implementers for coming together for the MSME celebration.
Dr Sawant emphasised the need to create green jobs and support an atmosphere where green initiatives can be adopted in the MSME sector.
Minister for Industries, Shri Mauvin Godinho, remarked that a healthy and conducive climate for industries to come up in Goa has already been created. He said that MSME contributes to the state and country’s growth helps generate employment and is a feeder to larger industries. He said that Goa is doing its best for the MSME sector to pick up and highlighted the importance of getting people involved at the grassroots level in the MSME fold.
Director of Directorate of Industries, Trade and Commerce, Ms. Egna Cleetus, IAS, gave a presentation on the RAMP scheme highlighting the key aspects of the scheme.
Present were the Chairperson of Industrial Development Corporation (IDC), and MLA of Curtorim, Shri Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco, Secretary, Industries, Trade and Commerce, Ms Swetika Sachan, IAS, General Manager, (DIC), Smt. Darshana Narulkar, among others. Deputy Director of Industries, Trade and Commerce, Shri Omkar Asolkar proposed the vote of thanks.
