VASCO: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Friday evenings said that while no one would know when the third Covid wave would start , the Health department will keep the infrastructure ready to combat the situation.
Rane speaking to reporters after a function to felicitate the Covid frontline workers of Cansaulim PHC at T.B.Cunha, Sports Complex, Cansaulim also assured that the Chicalim Sub District Hospital would not be privatized.
“The doctors, staff, paramedics, health workers and Frontline workers have a done an excellent job during the pandemic and we wanted to express our gratitude to them on behalf of the CM, Cabinet and Health department by felicitating these Covid warriors. The times were very tough but our staff worked tirelessly and selflessly to save lives of people and they deserve their recognition of the excellent works ” said Rane
“No one is aware of when the third wave will strike and as of now different names of variants are coming up and I have been having constant discussions with the CM on the infrastructure aspect . We are planning to have 100 percent vaccination for all so to keep us safe and reduce the severity of the infection. We must also follow all SOPs to fight the third wave because no one can predict when it could hit . However we are all geared up and we will keep all the required infrastructure ready. As far as Chicalim Hospital is concerned, we will not allow it to happen as said by Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho and the Government only will run the hospital facility “said Rane
Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha said the function was significant to express gratitude to Covid warriors
“All the medical staff forgot about themselves but reached out to the people who required help. They were dealing with a deadly virus but they gave their best to save lives and finally cases are coming down.” said Saldanha
