Fatorda: A Health Camp, organized by the “We For Fatorda” initiative, was successfully held at Goemkar Ghor, benefiting hundreds of residents.
The camp, which offered essential health services and specialist consultations, was well-received by the local community, who appreciated the opportunity for quality healthcare.
While addressing the gathering, Usha Sardesai, wife of MLA Vijai Sardesai, expressed her gratitude to the doctors and healthcare professionals who volunteered for the event. “We always give health the last importance, but I believe that if health is good, everything else follows,” she remarked.
“We should give priority to health because, with good health, people can achieve everything else. Health is the biggest wealth, and we have to protect it.
The people of Fatorda have brought us to where we are, so it is our duty to ensure their health is safeguarded so that, together, we can create a better future for Fatorda.
This camp is a small contribution to those who have supported us, and we want to bring the best doctors to serve the poor and middle class of Fatorda.”
Durgadas Kamat, General Secretary of the Goa Forward Party, said that Vijai Sardesai, was out of town but actively following the camp’s progress. Kamat emphasized the importance of good health, stating, “When one’s health is good, they can work effectively and support their family.
The question remains: is the Goa government supporting the health sector in the state? Just a few meters away, we have the South Goa District Hospital, which is supposed to serve the entire district. When our leader Vijai Sardesai visited the hospital, it was discovered that there were insufficient facilities and doctors, and the ICU was locked.
Sardesai had to approach the High Court for relief, and because of the court’s order, the government was compelled to start the ICU unit. Our priority is to ensure that the South Goa District Hospital becomes a fully functional hospital. Camps like this are essential because these facilities are lacking at the district hospital. We encourage everyone to make the most of this camp. If it proves successful, we plan to hold more camps in the future to ensure the people of Fatorda enjoy good health.”
Dr. Rufino Monteiro, one of the volunteer doctors at the camp, informed attendees about the services provided.
“We are conducting ECGs, blood tests, and clinical examinations. Our team includes physicians, orthopaedic specialists, spine surgeons, and skin specialists. We urge everyone to get examined and take the necessary steps to protect their health.”
The camp highlighted the Goa Forward Party’s commitment to healthcare and brought quality medical services to the doorstep of Fatorda’s residents, particularly benefiting the poor and middle-class community members.
