PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today said India may follow footsteps of Pakistan and Bangladesh if people fail to understand basic fundamental duties.
“One country was divided into three countries. Everyone knows the situation of Pakistan and Bangladesh. In India, we follow democracy – of the people, by the people, and for the people. India is the mother of democracy,” said Sawant
He further said that Goa was the first state to follow the Uniform Civil Code. Goa is a model state for the country, and we are ahead in achieving betterment.
“Everyone is fighting for their rights, but I request everyone to follow the duties outlined by our Constitution, which will ensure real justice for the Constitution of India,” he added
Sawant said that the contribution from each and every youth will help India move forward as a “Viksit Bharat”.
Justice Siddharth Mridul, Chief Justice (Retd.), High Court of Manipur also appealled Goans to contribute to keeping Goa’s beaches clean.
“It would be salutary if all of us, as and when we visit the beaches, make sure that all the plastic generated and thrown into the sea every day is collected and deposited with the authorities,” he added
Therefore, the Union government should enact legislation regarding sanitation and cleanliness, as public health and sanitation are within the concurrent jurisdiction. : Justice Siddharth Mridul, Chief Justice (Retd.), High Court of Manipur.
