PANAJI: The Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant today said that casinos, spas and nigh clubs, which were shut since April, will be allowed to resume operations from Monday, September 20 with 50 per cent capacity.
However, the Chief Minister clarified that the Electronic Dance Music (EDM) festivals like Sunburn will not be permitted.
The statement comes after Task Force on COVID-19 management recommend that government can recommence tourism activities following proper Standard Operating Procedure ( SOPs).
Sawant said that a detailed SOP will be issued with regards to operation of casinos, spas and night clubs. He said that facilitates will operate with only 50 per cent of its capacity.
As recommended by the Task Force,Sawant also said that only fully vaccinated or people with COVID19 negative certificate will be permitted to enter State as well as to visit these facilities.
Government had shut casinos, spas and night clubs after State reported sudden surge in coronavirus cases.
Earlier, Task Force member Dr Shekhar Salkar said that government is recommended to resume tourism activities with opening up of casinos, cruises and night clubs with 50 per cent capacity.
Responding to a question, Dr Salkar said that classes for Std VIII to XII can commence in physical mode from first week of October; however the Task Force will assess the situation before taking a final call.
He also said that decision with regards to classes below VIII standard will be taken after Diwali.
