PANAJI: Utpal Parrikar, son of former Goa CM late Manohar Parrikar has appealed people of Panaji not to give another chance to incumbent sitting MLA Atanasio Monserratte.
“Let there be no doubts- there may not be another chance,” Parrikar, who filed his nomination as Independent candidate, said in his public appeal.
Utpal has promised to work hard and with the same sincerity as “Bhai” (Manohar Parrikar) to take forward his dream and vision for Panaji to restore the rich cultural and educational values of the city and make it a safe, dynamic and world-class city where the mind is without fear and the head is held high.
“Ponjekars certainly deserve better and having made my choice, now it is up to you Panjekars to make your choice and decide my fate and simultaneously that of your much loved Panaji city,” Utpal said.
Utpal claimed that post untimely death of his father, things in Panaji took dismal turn and today, city finds itself languishing and risks moving towards a dystopian city.
“Arbitrary increases in municipal/sanitation charges, woeful levies on trades and businesses, unfair parking regulations/fees, unplanned development, discriminatory and malafide zone/FAR changes and the unbridled flourishing of illegal and immoral activities within city limits has ensured that Panaji is fast deteriorating and the original rich, cultural, educated and fabric of this great city is in danger of being destroyed,” he said.
Utpal said that under such abysmal circumstances, he had only two options; one be a mute and passive spectator or two, take up and continue Bhai’s good work and ensure that the city regains the pristine glory it enjoyed during his time.
