PANAJI: The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) today said that it will demolish the illegal structure at Old Goa once it forms the next government in the state.
“We are clear on this issue, once Congress forms the next government in Goa, we will demolish the illegal structure at Old Goa. We have always protected the States identify,” said AICC Desk Incharge for Goa Dinesh Gundu Rao
He futher said that the state government and the Chief Minister must held one accountable for this mess.
“If you all see Congress has always been detrimental in protecting the Goa’ identity, the heritage and culture. We have always fought for such issues,” he added
Rao said that they will continue to back all the NGO and civil society members until the said illegal structure is demolished.
“I want to tell you all today that Congress was the first party to voice out against this illegal structure and I don’t want to talk about what is happening now, I don’t want to comment on the same,” he said
Goa Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Town and Country Planning (TCP) Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar on had withdrawn permissions given to an allegedly illegal structure at Old Goa.
Various protests were held by political parties and NGOs against the allegedly illegal structure of a bungalow in a heritage precinct at Old Goa.
Recently, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had announced that the government would act as per the law against the structure.
