“This policy will help promote the Drone Industry, which has infinite possibilities as an Effective Tool in enhancing the scope of Public Security and Governance,” said Khaunte.
He further said that the drone policy aims to position Goa as a key state in India’s drone ecosystem by harnessing opportunities to promote manufacturing, and innovation, generate employment and provide value-added services in the state.
“The objective of the Goa Drone Policy 2022 is to leverage drone technology for better governance, promotion of innovation and generation of employment,” he added.
The IT Minister said that this policy broadly covers the support infrastructure we need from the government and mechanisms we put in place to encourage the adoption of this technology by both government and private enterprises.
“The policy will encourage the use of drones for innovative delivery of citizen services with a focus on agriculture, forestry, horticulture, healthcare, mining and tourism,” the minister said.
Khaunte further said government departments like the electricity, public works etc, can bring down the cost of parts by 3D printing wherever applicable instead of procuring them through regular channels and holding a large inventory.
“Local companies in Goa that are currently dependent on companies from Mumbai, Pune and Bengaluru will be benefitted from the local availability of services. It will aid young entrepreneurs and start-ups to prototype their models,” he said.
