PORVORIM: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant said that education department will not go for offline education till Central govt and ICMR guidelines are issued to this effect stating that government will make arrangements for online class
Sawant said that his government has already issued necessary permissions to install around 60 towers across the state.
“I also understand the issue faced by students but the government is working hard to put thing in place. My govt has given permissions to install around 60 towers in the state to improve connectivity in state,” he said
Speaking on GBBN, he said that the previous government had freezed the network only to 426 school.
“Out of 1,533 extended GBBN locations that is government departments, corporations, schools and colleges, altogether 1,292 extended locations are working, while 241 extended locations are not working, which include schools, colleges and educational institutes,” he added
He also said that department of education is in process of identifying locations for providing Wi-Fi internet connectivity, where there is no mobile coverage. The department has drafted the Goa Telecom Policy 2020, in order to ease the installation of mobile towers thereby ensuring good quality internet networks across Goa, especially in remote and hilly areas, and has also applied for Bharatnet funding to department of telecom, government of India, so as to increase the internet penetration in villages.
Speaking on Para-teachers, CM said that govt has done whatever was possible for the para teachers and they will be sent an official letter to that effect, said CM Pramod Sawant.
“We have raised their salary to Rs 25,000 and the work period is extended from 10 months to 12 months. There are 400 to 500 teachers from para teachers, lecture basis teachers to part time teachers serving in various schools of Goa. We have created a common nomenclature for them as contract teachers and their salaries have been raised to Rs 25,000 with annual increment. We will give them priority wherever possible,”CM said.
