She said this during a discussion on the Comptroller and Auditor General’s (CAG) report on the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) in the Assembly.
New Delhi: In a bold move to address the city’s governance history, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced plans to release a comprehensive “white paper” detailing the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) administration’s tenure. The announcement came during a heated Assembly discussion on Monday, following the tabling of a crucial Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report on the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC).
As the first budget session of the eighth Delhi Assembly unfolds, the newly elected Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government is setting the stage for a thorough examination of its predecessor’s policies and financial decisions. Gupta, who also holds the finance portfolio, emphasized the ongoing audits across various departments, explaining that the economic survey would be presented once these reviews are complete.
The Chief Minister’s declaration signals a significant shift in Delhi’s political landscape, with the BJP reclaiming power after a 26-year hiatus. The five-day budget session, which commenced with the traditional “kheer” ceremony, marks a new chapter in the capital’s governance.
Gupta is scheduled to present the BJP government’s inaugural budget on Tuesday, a highly anticipated event that will outline the party’s vision for Delhi’s future. The presentation will be the first of its kind for the BJP in over two and a half decades, following their decisive victory in the recent Assembly elections that ended AAP’s decade-long rule.
The tabling of the CAG report on the DTC has set the tone for intense scrutiny of the previous government’s management of public resources. As the new administration pledges transparency, Delhi’s residents await the revelations that the promised “white paper” may bring to light.
