PANAJI: The State government has finally lifted ban on recruitment processes in government Department/Grant-in-aid institutions/Autonomous Bodies/Corporations/PSU’s.
Ahead of the February 2017 Assembly elections, the then Laxmikant Parsekar government had imposed ban on all recruitment in the government sector for smoother implementation of the Seventh Pay Commission recommendation to the employees, as the additional financial liability to the State was to the tune of Rs 47 crore a month. The ban was to be reviewed in six months.
“The Government had imposed ban on recruitment processes in Government Department/Grant-in-aid institutions/Autonomous Bodies/Corporations/PSU’s etc. vide O.M. No. 9/4/2005-PER dated 22/11/2016 in view of the implementations of the recommendation of the Seventh Central Pay Commission, in respect of pay and allowances to the employees of the Government and Government aided institutions,” the order states
The Government has decided that the ban imposed vide O.M. No. 9/4/2005 PER dated 22/11/2016 and related instructions shall stand withdrawn with immediate.
In an notification issued on April 21, Additional Secretary (Personnel) YM Maralkar said the government in November 2016 had imposed a ban on further recruitment including the ongoing process in all departments as well as grant-in-aid institutions. “Now the position has been reviewed and it has been decided to lift the ban in a phased manner,” he said.
The ban later had been lifted for teaching and non-teaching posts as per sanctioned strength in grant-in-aid educational institutions, teaching post in government educational institutions and posts of doctors (teaching and non-teaching), medical officers, nurses and technical staff required in the laboratories, operation theaters, etc as per sanctioned strength in the health sector.
