Mapusa: Mapusa Police have registered Crime No. 19/26 under Section 140(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, in connection with the abduction of a 35-year-old woman from Khorlim, Mapusa.
The offence was registered on February 9, 2026, at 13.16 hrs, based on a State complaint lodged by Mr. Keshav Babal Naik, Head Constable (HC 3921), aged 55 years, attached to Mapusa Police Station.
According to the complaint, the incident occurred on December 24, 2025, at around 10.00 hrs at Khorlim, Mapusa, Bardez, Goa. An unknown accused person allegedly lured and abducted the woman, wife of Ranjit Biswanath Soren, without her consent and against the will of her husband, from his lawful custody, and kept her concealed.
The abducted woman, whose name has been withheld, is aged 35 years, presently residing at Mapusa, Bardez, Goa, and is a native of West Bengal. She is described as having an average build, approximately 165 cm in height, with an oval face, fair complexion, long black hair and black eyes. She speaks Hindi and Bengali. At the time of the incident, she was reportedly wearing a blue T-shirt and black jeans.
Police have registered the offence against an unknown accused and further investigation is in progress.
