MOPA: Mopa Airport Police have registered a case against a woman for allegedly forging the permit classification of her vehicle and illegally operating it as a rent-a-cab without the required authorization.
The accused, identified as Pradnya Kumbralkar, a resident of Gali Wada, Dadachi Wadi, Dhargal in Pernem, is the owner of a Suzuki Baleno bearing registration number GA-11-T-5670. The vehicle was originally registered with the RTO Pernem as a Tourist Taxi. However, Kumbralkar is alleged to have intentionally modified the number plate and converted the classification to Rent-a-Cab without holding valid documents or approvals.
The violation came to light on June 19 at around 12:00 PM at Manohar International Airport, Mopa. Based on the report filed by PSI Viraj Harischandra Sawant, a case was registered the same evening at 9:05 PM under Mopa Airport Police Station Cr. No. 35/2025. Offences have been booked under Sections 336(2), 336(3), and 340(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, along with Section 192-A of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.
Police say the accused rented out the vehicle to a customer for commercial use with the intent of gaining illegal profit. Further investigation into the case is ongoing under PSI Viraj Sawant.
