Vasco: Vasco Police have registered a case against a woman for allegedly suppressing her Portuguese nationality and fraudulently enrolling her name in the electoral roll of the 25–Vasco Assembly Constituency.
According to police, the case was registered following a complaint filed by the Executive Magistrate and Mamlatdar of Mormugao Taluka, who is also the Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) for the constituency.
The accused, identified as Elizabeth Luis, a resident of Bhute Bhat in Vasco, allegedly concealed the fact that she had acquired Portuguese nationality and was holding a Portuguese passport. Police said she submitted an enumeration form during the Special Intensive Revision conducted by the Election Commission of India through a Booth Level Officer of the Mormugao Municipal Council.
By allegedly suppressing this information and submitting documents as genuine, the accused fraudulently enrolled her name in the 25–Vasco Assembly Constituency electoral roll, police said.
Further investigation in the case is being carried out by PSI Nikhil Naik Dessa of Vasco Police Station.
