Panaji: Panaji Police have registered a case of rash and negligent driving following a road accident on the New Mandovi Bridge that left a motorcyclist with grievous injuries.
According to police, the complaint was lodged on January 8, 2026, at around 1.19 pm by HC 5933 Pandurang Gawas of Panaji Police Station.
The incident had occurred earlier on January 4, 2026, at about 11 am on the New Mandovi Bridge, Panaji, under Tiswadi taluka.
Police stated that the accused, Manasi w/o Satish Naik (44), a resident of Dando, Sanguem, was driving a Renault Kwid car bearing registration number GA-09-D-1553 from Panaji city towards Malim Circle.
Upon reaching the New Mandovi Bridge, she allegedly drove the vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against an oncoming motorcycle, a Bajaj CT-100 bearing registration number GA-07-AD-2562, which was proceeding towards Panaji.
As a result of the collision, the motorcycle rider, Upendra Kumar, sustained grievous injuries.
Further investigation in the matter is being carried out by HC Pandurang Gawas of Panaji Police Station.
