UTORDA: In a tragic incident, a woman was struck and killed by a passing train near Utorda Church.
Authorities rushed to the scene, and the body was later sent to the South Goa District Hospital for postmortem examination.
The identity of the deceased is Maria Dourado (59), and railway and local police are conducting further investigations to determine the circumstances leading to the fatal accident.
This incident comes just days after a similar tragedy, where a youth from Madel-Fatorda lost his life after being crushed under a train at Margao Railway Station. The back-to-back incidents have raised concerns over safety along railway tracks in South Goa.
Locals have called for increased vigilance and better protective measures, including fencing near vulnerable stretches and awareness campaigns to prevent such fatal mishaps.
