Verna: A 27-year-old woman, Priyanka Polai, originally from Odisha and residing in Sancoale, Mormugao, was declared dead at Goa Medical College (GMC), Bambolim, after being admitted following an alleged self-harm incident at her home on December 23, 2025, around 8 pm.
Preliminary information indicates that a minor argument occurred between the woman and her husband after dinner. She then locked herself in the bedroom, and when unresponsive, her husband and neighbours forced the door open and found her unconscious. She was first taken to the Primary Health Centre at Cansaulim and later shifted to GMC Bambolim, where she was pronounced dead.
Verna police conducted an inquest panchanama, and the body is preserved at GMC Bambolim for further medico-legal procedures. PSI Carey Fernandes is investigating the case.
