CALANGUTE: Calangute Police have registered an unnatural death (UD) case after a 37-year-old woman was found dead on a staircase of a residential building at Gaura Wado, Calangute.
The UD case (No. 81/2025) has been registered under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023.
According to police, on December 18, 2025, at around 8 pm, Calangute Police received a call from 108 ambulance staff informing them that a female person was found lying unconscious on the staircase of Casa Natasha building at Gaura Wado, Calangute, Bardez.
The deceased has been identified as Holika Sema (37), a resident of Kheholi, Dimapur Sadar, Nagaland.
Police conducted an inquiry with the friends of the deceased, who stated that she was an alcoholic and had been suffering from illness. They informed police that she may have accidentally fallen on the staircase. Police said no foul play is suspected at this stage.
The body has been shifted to the Goa Medical College (GMC) mortuary at Bambolim for preservation. Arrangements are being made to conduct a post-mortem examination and complete further legal formalities.
Further investigation is in progress and is being carried out by PSI Prajit Mandrekar of Calangute Police Station.
