PANAJI: A 33-year-old woman sustained grievous injuries after being knocked down by a car near Green Rosary High School, Dona Paula, on November 7. Police have booked the driver for rash and negligent driving.
As per the complaint lodged by Head Constable Babu Madanwar (HC 5717) of Panaji Police Station, the incident occurred at 7:25 am when the accused, Antonio H. De Noronha, a resident of Kerant, Caranzalem, was driving his Maruti Celerio (GA-03-P-6589) from Green Rosary School Gate towards the main road.
Without exercising proper caution, the driver allegedly hit Ms. Romana V. Saldanha (33), a resident of Cuelim, Velsao, Cansaulim, who was walking on the right side of the road towards the school. The impact caused her grievous injuries.
Following the incident, Panaji Police registered an offence under sections 281 and 125(a)(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the accused.
Investigation into the case is underway.
