* Woman produced before JMFC, Mapusa; legal procedures initiated.
* She is the complainant in Porvorim PS Crime No. 56/2025 under Sections 376, 370, and 370(A)(2) IPC; case under investigation by Women Police Station, Panaji.
Early morning rescue leads to medical intervention and legal action under MHCA 2017;
woman is also a key complainant in a human trafficking and rape case.

Mapusa: In the early hours of Tuesday, a woman in distress was rescued from the Tar Junction, Bastora area along the National Highway following an emergency call received by police.
At approximately 04:40 hrs, a call was made by a local woman, Mrs. Madhuri, reporting a female in need of help at the location. Based on the alert, ROBOT-14 patrol was immediately dispatched to the spot.
By 04:55 hrs, the ROBOT-14 team located the woman on the highway heading towards Pernem, and she was promptly shifted to the District Hospital, Mapusa, for medical examination with the assistance of the 108 ambulance service.
Subsequently, LPSI Ravina and PSI Yeshwant Mandrekar, along with police staff, visited the hospital and found the woman undergoing treatment. However, upon noticing the police presence, she reportedly became agitated and aggressive.
A written memo was later received from the on-duty Medical Officer at the Casualty Ward of District Hospital, Mapusa, requesting the police to obtain a Reception Order under the Mental Healthcare Act (MHCA), 2017, for admission of the patient to Institute of Psychiatry and Human Behaviour (IPHB), citing concerns of self-harm.
The woman has since been produced before the Hon’ble JMFC, Mapusa, and necessary arrangements are being made to obtain legal directions in the matter.
It has also been confirmed that the woman is the complainant in an ongoing investigation under Crime No. 56/2025 at Porvorim Police Station, registered under Sections 376, 370, and 370(A)(2) of the Indian Penal Code. The case is currently being investigated by the Women Police Station, Panaji.
