Quepem: A case of robbery has been registered at Quepem Police Station following an incident in which a woman was assaulted and her gold mangalsutra was snatched by two unidentified men at Xeldem, Quepem.
According to police, the offence was registered based on a complaint lodged by Sarika Naik, a resident of Xeldem, Quepem. The complainant stated that on February 2, 2026, at around 8.15 am, while she was outside her residence, two unknown male accused persons, acting with common intention, used criminal force against her.
During the incident, the complainant sustained injuries and the accused snatched her gold mangalsutra from her neck before fleeing from the spot. The loss caused to the complainant has been estimated at ₹1,90,012.
Further investigation in the case is being carried out by LPSI Rifha Barretto of Quepem Police Station.
