VOLLANT: A woman sustained serious injuries after she was allegedly attacked with a knife at Vollant, Cortalim, on April 4 morning.
According to police, the complaint was filed by a resident of Vollant, Cortalim (name withheld), stating that at around 9:45 am his married daughter was plucking flowers while standing on an internal public road when the accused, identified as Sushant Shirodkar, a neighbour and relative, approached her with a knife while allegedly under the influence of alcohol.
Police said the accused allegedly abused the woman in filthy language and questioned why she was visiting her parental home despite being married and residing at Carambolim. He then allegedly attempted to kill her by repeatedly attacking her on the head and neck with the knife, causing serious injuries.
The complainant also sustained injuries while trying to rescue his daughter from the attack. A case has been registered, and further investigation is being carried out by PSI Mahesh Bhomkar of Verna Police Station.
