MAPUSA: A 53-year-old woman, Mrs. Yallamma Lakkundi, tragically passed away at the Goa Medical College (GMC), Bambolim, on Sunday while undergoing treatment for injuries sustained in a road accident.
According to Mapusa Police, Mrs. Lakkundi, a resident of Morjim in Pernem and originally from Sortur in Gadag, Karnataka, had been admitted to Ward No. 120 at GMC after suffering serious injuries in a motor vehicle accident. The incident occurred on May 31 at around 12 noon near the Football Ground in Ganeshpuri, Mapusa.
Despite medical efforts, Mrs. Lakkundi succumbed to her injuries on June 2. The police received an intimation about her death from the casualty section at GMC and subsequently registered an Unnatural Death case under section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
Further investigation into the circumstances of the accident is underway.
