Anjuna: A 36-year-old woman tourist from Madhya Pradesh died after falling into the sea during a water sports activity at Anjuna Beach on Wednesday evening.
According to police, information was received from St. Anthony Hospital, Anjuna at around 6.55 pm that a woman identified as Rajni Indoliya, 36, had been brought dead to the hospital.
Preliminary inquiry revealed that at about 5.00 pm, the deceased along with her relatives was participating in a banana floater ride at Anjuna Beach as part of a water sports activity. During the ride, they reportedly accidentally fell into the sea and were immediately rescued by water sports staff present at the site.
Police said that after being rescued, the woman began to feel unwell and later lost consciousness. She was immediately shifted to St. Anthony Hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.
Rajni Indoliya, wife of Sunil Indoliya, was a native of Village Ghusgawan, Navali Badagaon in Morena district of Madhya Pradesh.
Police conducted an inquest panchanama over the body and said no foul play is suspected in the incident. The body has been preserved at the GMC morgue in Bambolim for further medico-legal formalities.
